Born in Monroe, MI, Todd Williams started out in athletics as a football player. After his coach suggested he try cross country instead, he ran 4:34 for the mile in his first race. A two-time Olympian and four-time USA Champion in the 10,000m, he also was named to the NCAA 1st Team All-American eight times in cross country and track at the University of Tennessee. He set the current American 15k record of 42:22 in 1995 in one of his five first place finishes at the Gate River Run. He retired from professional running in 2003 and now resides in Jacksonville, FL with his wife Stephanie and two daughters.
